Q. How much will the test cost?
$127 upfront. However, BASE10 provides an itemized receipt with procedure/billing codes so that you can file a reimbursement claim with your insurance company.
Q. What do I need to prepare for my test?
First, register for the program through your pharmacist. Once you have set-up your account, you will pay for the test. Next, you will select an appointment date/time. Then simply show up on the scheduled date/time and take your test. Prior to taking the test, do not eat, drink, smoke, or chew gum 30 minutes beforehand.
Q. Is the test accurate?
The test is a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), which will detect the genetic materials of SARS-CoV-2 virus responsible for causing COVID-19. The test has 100% Clinical Specificity and Sensitivity for detecting as low as 200 viral copies per microliter.
Q. Is there a digital tool I am supposed to use?
Yes. Your pharmacist will guide you on how to access the BASE10 portal. Once you have registered you can schedule test appointments, and view your test results.
Q. How is the test sample collected?
Deposit a saliva sample into the collection tube then seal the container by screwing on the cap containing the blue chemical solution. The kit’s chemical buffer inactivates viruses in the saliva, thereby making them non-infectious. For more information see the Instructions For Use (IFU).
Q. What happens if I receive a positive result?
All test results are safely delivered via the secure BASE10 portal. If you receive a positive result, you will be contacted and instructed to review and follow the CDC guidance for Covid-19 positive cases.

The kit is authorized by the FDA under the Emergency Use Authorization policy for direct-to-consumer use.
You will receive results within 48 hours of processing at the BASE10 high-complexity CLIA lab. Results can always be accessed through the BASE10 portal. Available through either the web portal or mobile app.
Q. Will I need to ship my test?
No. The pharmacy will handle sending out the test for you.
